Year 5 - Hawthorne and Cedar

One of the books which I enjoyed the most this year is Treason by Berlie Doherty. The first time I read it, I couldn’t put it down because I was so eager to find out what happened in the next chapter! It also taught me a lot about the Tudor era as this is the time period it is set in. Berlie Doherty has also written other historical fiction which I enjoyed such as Street Child.

My favourite children’s book is Monkey Puzzle because it’s got lots of animals and uses lots of words to describe them and because the children can join in with repeated refrains.
My favourite children's author is Roald Dahl because he has fun with his writing and makes up his own words!
Miss H Ibbotson

My favourite children's book is "The Five minutes Peace' by Jill Murphy. It is so easy to read and I have enjoyed sharing these with my own children.
I can really connect with this story as the plot resonates with my own family life.

My favourite children's book is 'We're all going on a Bear Hunt' because it has rhyming and repetitive text which lends itself perfectly for reading aloud. The illustrations are also beautiful and entertaining.

My favourite children’s author is Astrid Lindgreen and her story about 'Pippi Longstocking.' I read these stories myself as a little girl and I loved the sense of magic in her stories - particularly magic on her horse!

My favourite book is "The Magic Faraway Tree" by Enid Blyton.
I loved getting into the stories that the characters got up to, visiting different lands of the Faraway Tree. Spent hours reading this book.
My favourite author has to be Enid Blyton. I loved any of her books, such as the Secret Seven, Famous Five, Naughty Amelia Jane and The Magic Faraway Tree. Her imagination motivated to me to write creatively.
